Photo Of The Day - Day 1 to 55.

I've decided to move my photo a day from it's own page to the regular posts. It will be easier to see this way and give me more posting per week.

Here are the first 55 days.

This model sprint car belongs to my dad. It's an exact replica of the car that he helps the pit crew out with. For this shot, I set the light to camera right at about 45 degrees and the reflector at camera left right beside the car. I used the gold side to make the yellow of the car pop. I think it was successful.

I know, I know. That's pretty nasty. I decided one day to see what a pear goes through when it rots. This has been ongoing since Jan 5th. Now I'm tired of looking at this nasty pear and before the fruit flies come, I'm getting rid of it.

It does have some neat textures and colors though.

I won't go into what he was saying but he's got a bit of an attitude. :) Poor Tim has the nastiest, dirtiest, wettest, grungiest job I can give him. He works in our wash bay cleaning the trucks and equipment that come in from the oil patch. I don't envy him from my warm, dry, mostly clean office.

I'm starting my photo project for unit 4 this month. I've started practicing my portrait techniques. Here I've lit Jacob with 90 degree window light camera left and a white reflector camera right. Not sure about the 90 degree lighting but I'm happy with the overall exposure. One of my favorites of him for sure.

With 2 kids under 5, our living room is cluttered with toys most of the time. Sure we pick them up but hurricane Jacob and tropical storm Mikayla just toss things all over again.

As I was standing on Connors Hill today waiting for a group of my insane friends to show up to do some extreme tobogganing, I spotted this toque and keys hanging from one of the fences at the top of the hill. Thought it looked nice.

Day 8 was inspired by my friend Mary on flickr. She took a photo of the stuff from her camera bag. I decided to show how much photographic "junk" I have. I got my first camera back in 1984 from my dad. I didn't know anything about it then and sometimes I still wonder about that. LOL.

8/365 2009 Inspired By Mary IMG_2908 50D 01082009

Ok, this was inspired by Mary's shot from her camera bag.

I have too much junk that never gets used. Ok, what's here? Starting from the left:

Vivitar 28mm f/2.5 (1981)

Pentax 80-200mm (1981)

Vivitar 2x converter

Argus SLR c/w 50mm f/1.8 I think. The numbers are worn off. From about 1968 this was my first camera given to me by my dad in 1984.

Canon RebelX c/w 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 This is a pretty descent camera.

Sigma 100-300mm f/4.5-6.7 really slow but sharp.

Canon Digital Rebel XTI c/w 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Love this camera my first DSLR

Canon 15-55mm f/3.5-5.6

Canon 55-250mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Love this lens

Canon 430ex speed light.

Canon 50D c/w 17-85mm f/3.5-5.6 I used this to take the photo. I love this camera too.

Not shown - the 5 L lenses that I have yet to buy as I have not won the lotto! LOL!

Anyone want to buy some film stuff???

Yikes. What a pack rat!

Window light at camera left, reflector at 45 degrees camera right. This started out just as me practicing portraits with my kids. Jacob is able to sit still longer than Mikayla so his portrait worked much better. This photo instantly became a favorite.

New Project!

In an effort to boost my creativity I have accepted a Photo A Day challenge from one of my Flickr contacts Taximom_22. The group's pool is located here. Obviously this pool is empty right now. Taximom's invite for the group could not have come at a better time. I've been suffering with my creativity lately and this will really help to bring some focus to my photography. Watch this blog starting January 1 2009 for my photos. I will post them here as well as on Flickr.
