Here is the best and the worst part of Christmas all in one delectable little package. Shortbread cookies.

My Grandma made my favorite ones. No one will ever beat hers. Now that she is recently passed, I will cherish every one of these I eat. Yum. Full of good memories. Even just the smell of them reminds me of Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Suddenly, I'm 8 years old again. :)

The kids and I spent an hour or so sliding down a hill today. Just a little hill but it was fun anyway. As you can tell by the big smile here. Next week we are going to the big hills. That should be fun.

The boy and I went for a walk late in the afternoon to see if any geese were walking around on the ice of the pond in our area. What we found was a perfect surface for skidding rocks across the ice. We had a great time trying to knock the rocks around that were already there.

Woody and Jessie ready to ride. For candy that is.

The kids got decked out in their Halloween costumes and we headed out for a couple of hours of candy gathering. Such fun. They get more and more into it as they get older. Maybe next year I'll dress up. Normally I go as Peter Parker or Clark Kent. That gives me the excuse to carry my camera! Normal clothes and a camera. I can handle that costume.

Within 45 minutes their bags were too heavy for them so I got to carry them. Good times.

I carved pumpkins for the kids today. This one for the boy and an owl for the girl. I scooped out enough of the pumpkin meat for 5 pies! Mmmmmm pie.

 

 

Here's the pumpkin I carved for the girl. I let the kids pick the design. I've never done ones this detailed before. Usually just ones with block teeth and a goofy grin. These are much more fun.

I love watching useless activity. Unless this is just practice for the driver, working on this road while it's raining in pretty much useless.

This road in front of my work is one of the last gravel roads in Edmonton. They just want too much in taxes to rip it out and put in a proper road. So, it falls apart in a matter of days and they have to come smooth it out again. Problem is that they will wait until it's raining before they come out and do it. So, in 2 hours all the truck traffic here will turn this road back into the washboard it was this morning before this guy showed up to "practice".
