50D Pricing.
I have found pricing for the 50D. On the Vistek website the 50D kit including the new 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens (sweet, it was designed for the 50D) is going for $2049.00. I wasn't far off on that one. Then of course you need the $329.95 battery grip. What good is 1 battery when you can have 2.
I need $2500.00. Who can spot me that? I'll pay you back in a year, I promise. I'll even give you a post dated cheque.

Rumor of the Canon 5D M2
I've heard rumor of an up coming version of the Canon 5D. Here's the link to the article.
http://www.canonrumors.com/index.php?entry=entry080827-094825
Here is a list of what it is boasting.
21.1 MP 1.0x
DIGIC IV
ISO 100-6400 L:50 & H:12800
5 FPS
3.2" High Resolution Screen (LCD)
19 point AF
HDMI Out
Liveview
HD Movie Mode
Viewfinder: 100% Coverage
Full weather sealing
EF Lenses only
I must admit, I've never used the 5D so I'm not sure what it's like compared to the crop sensor models. Perhaps I'll have to get my hands on one and review it.

Got A Wireless Transmitter
I'm pretty excited. I just got my new wireless transmitter! I didn't go for one of those $200.00 or $300.00 models. I purchased a $24.95 unit from Gadget Infinity out of Hong Kong. I know what you are thinking but this is a sweet unit. It came highly recommended by Chris Marquardt of my favorite podcast Tips From The Top Floor.
I bought the lowest end model they had. I wanted to see if that one would work. The range is 30 meters although they have one that boasts up to 100 meters. I just wanted it for those intimate group shots in which I'm sure I'll not be more than 10 meters away from the camera.
Here is a couple of shots I took with the unit.
18mm, ISO 100, f/3.5 for 1/50 sec.
20mm, ISO 100, f/3.5 for 1/80 sec.
I like the resulting photos. Not bad for me not being behind the camera. I set the zoom, ISO and aperture then let the camera pick it's shutter speed. It's a little under exposed but hey, I can fix that and I was not too concerned for this test.
Here is a picture of the transmitter and receiver.
It's a nice small unit about the size of a car stater remote. The only down side to it is the receiver unit just hangs from the camera. Not a major issue. It's light. I'll post some more shots as I do more testing with it.

Photo For Now #002
So, I could not resist. I had to put up another photo right away. My blog seems so small. I've recently moved from another blog and could not bring it all here.
So here is another photo. This one also from the sunrise series I did. I back lit this plant with the rising sun. I think it works pretty well.
46mm, ISO 100, f/16 for 1/100 sec.

Photo For Now #001
Ok, so here we go. This is the first installment of Photo For Now. In these posts, I'm going to put some examples of my work. Usually one of my better and newer shots. I'll try not to go back too far in my archives.
So for this post, I have selected one from a sunrise series I did at Fork Lake Alberta. I'm not a big morning person so getting up at 5:30 am to shoot some photos was a big deal for me. As it was the sun didn't come up until after 6:30am and I had to wait for it to clear the cloud bank on the horizon.
It was cold, cold, cold! I had to hold my breath while taking the shots as my breath was clouding up the photos. I think the result was worth the wait and the cold. I took several shots using the cat tails along the shore to frame the rising sun. My favorite part of this photo is the flare around the sun. I like how it distorts the shape of the sun.
47mm, ISO 100, f/16 for 1/800 sec.

Dreams For A New Camera - The Canon 50D!!
Hello Everyone.
Today I have decided on the next camera I'm going to get. Canon's replacement to the 40D is coming soon. The 50D. Oh, man, did it make me drool. 15.1 megapixels to start with. All the 40D features and more. You know what, I'll just put the link right here - click me for the camera details - there ya go.
I will be puting away all my dimes and nickles for this one. There isn't even any pricing for it yet but I'm guessing around $2000.00 canadian for it. That's just a guess though. I'll see how I'm doing next summer or fall and decide then. But, oh baby, that's the one. Not just for the MPs but all those high end features. My little rebel xti is getting boring.
Chris.
A Little About Myself
Hello my name is Chris Lemmen and I'm a photographer.
I label myself as a photographer because I take photos and I've been paid for them. I guess that makes me a semi-professional photographer because I don't do this as my main source of income.
I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I'm married and have 2 amazing kids. Usually my kids end up as the test subjects in my photography as I learn new techniques. Most of the time they don't mind.
I hope you like what I do here and will leave me some comments. I'll take some direction from any comments I get as to the content of my blog.
Thank you and enjoy.
