Off To The Lake.

Well, I'm off to the lake for a much needed week off. We have a trip to Cold Lake planned where there are lots of sail boats at the marina for me to photograph. Also, the boy and I are doing a road trip between Smokey Lake and Rich Lake to take photos of old abandonded farms. I love those. Watch for photos/videos the following week if I can get them done in time.

Enjoy the week.

Photo Of The Day - 211 Of 365 - Spanky.

Friday July 31 2009.

I thought I'd quickly put up this photo of my mom's bird that we are babysitting. We've had him with us for 2 1/2 weeks now and he has fit in very well with our kids. He's noisy and doesn't do what he is told either. LOL.

Today is his last day with us so I thought I'd take a shot of him before he goes back to Mom's.

Photo Of The Day - 206 of 365. Alberta Railway Museum.

Saturday July 25 2009.

We spent a couple of hours at the Alberta Railway Museum today. What a neat place. Jacob was in his glory with all the real trains around.

Most of the cars have been restored and there are plenty of historical plaques and explinations of each car.

Beginning the whole portrait phase. I'm drawn to environmental portraits. I like how a person's surroundings tells a story about them.

John is one of our mechanics. Happy no matter what he is doing.

Photo Of The Day - 201 of 365. Weeds.

Monday July 20 2009.

Here is what 7 years of lawn neglect leads to. Weeds, weeds, weeds. This is the only thing about the new house that I dislike. It will take me a whole summer of work just to get rid of these. Good thing I like to do that.

Stuck In A Rut.

Well, here I am, stuck in a rut. I'm photographically frozen. I'm having trouble getting motivated with my camera. I'm half way through my NYIP course, been there since February. February! What's that all about?! How am I to get motivated? I work all day then by the time I get home, I just don't feel like setting up a great shot. Sure, I'm still taking family snaps and such but nothing really creative. I'm disappointed with my computer in my home office that was supposed to take over for my laptop. The color is awful. It is low on RAM so it is very slow to respond to my editing. Argh.....what to do, what to do.

I need to boost my self up. It seems that just writing this down is helping me to solve the problems. Perhaps this weekend with a much needed break out at the lake, I could get my assignment done. It's just a bunch of portraits after all. Hmm. I'll see.

Well I feel a bit better now.

Thanks.

Chris.

Photo Of The Day - 188 of 365. Lonesome Rock.

Tuesday July 7 2009.

It's been raining for 12 hours or so now. This rock is on our BBQ deck at work just across from my office. We use it to hold the door open. LOL.

I liked how the rain drops were spreading rings all about the deck and how the rain streaked glass of the door added to the gloomy feel of the photo.

I'm really wanting to take some portraits of the kids in front of the fireplace in our new house. It's going to take some off camera flash. The lights above the fireplace look terrible but the spot will be alright.

Mostly Moved In, Back To Work.

Wow! That was a crazy week and a bit. Still not completely moved out of the old house. Just a little bit of stuff left in the garage. The house is empty and cleaned ( thanks Mom ) but still a bit of garage to go. I just had no place to put it at the new house. Good thing we have a couple more weeks before we have to be out.

Here are my helpers hoofing boxes.

178/365 2009. Moving Day!

What a crazy day this one was.

For now the house is full of boxes, the garage is full of boxes and we never new we had so much stuff. Can you say garage sale? Well I'll try to keep up with posting now that I am back at work.
